Service Policy and Information
Service Policy
Melonbike is not responsible for loss or damage to vehicle or articles left in/on vehicle in case of fire, theft or any other cause beyond our control or for any delays caused by unavailability of parts or delays in parts shipments by supplier or transporter. Any bicycle received by Melonbike for the purpose of repair, is bound by a mechanics lien for the cost of said repair. The repair bill must be paid in full by the customer before the bicycle can be released. Once the repair service is finished, Melonbike will attempt to notify the customer that the repair is complete. It is the responsibility of the customer to provide Melonbike with current contact information. The customer is responsible for notifying Melonbike of any changes to their contact information prior to repair completion. Repair bills that are not settled within 7 days of notification will be subject to a $1 per day storage fee. Storage fees will continue to accrue for up to 60 days. Repair bills that are not settled within 60 days of notification will be considered abandoned and any bicycle or parts associated with the repair bill will then become property of Melonbike. Melonbike can then sell said property to cover the cost of the abandoned bill.
Service Failure
Some services offered by Melonbike have a probability of failure due to the condition of the component that may result in a component being ruined or destroyed. In the event that a component is destroyed while attempting service, Melonbike is not responsible for the cost of the destroyed component and the customer is still responsible for the charge associated with the service. The services that have a chance of failure are clearly marked with a Warning Message in their service description. Customers will be informed ahead of time that the service has a possibility of failure.
Services NOT Offered
Melonbike does not offer metalworking or painting services. We can not and will not be equipped to deal with such services as frame building, weld repair, composite repair, painting, or decal application. Please to do ask for these services as they are not and never will be offered. Melonbike does not offer pick up or drop off services for customers. Customers are responsible for delivering their bicycle to Melonbike for service and retrieving it once service is completed.
Service Turn-around Time
The estimated time to complete each service is listed within the Service Description for the service. The time frame is an estimation based on previous service completion times. The time frame is in no way a guarantee of the time it takes to complete a service. If a service requires parts that are not in stock, the service time is extended to accommodate the length of time to receive the part or parts. Melonbike will notify the customer of any known or expected delays at the time the bicycle is received for service.
Estimates and Consultations
Consultations and Estimates can be provided to customers who need custom services or installations. Estimates are a charged service, the price for which is listed in the service list. Estimates are only an educated summary of possible cost and time and in no way guarantee a price or time frame for custom work. Should the customer decide to have the work completed, the cost of the estimate will be credited toward the cost of the work. Should the customer choose not to have the work completed, the cost of the estimate is kept by Melonbike and can not be refunded.
Product Warranty Information
Almost every product sold at Melonbike has a warranty of some sort. Warranties are agreements between the manufacturer of the product and the end user of the product. Melonbike employees can assist in making contact with the manufacturer of a product for a warranty claim or, in some cases, can handle the warranty claim completely. Warranty claims can be handled by the consumer directly with manufacturers or can be started through the store. We do not handle exchanges for the warranty claim, unless instructed to by the manufacturer after a claim has been started. Remember that Melonbike is only an intermediary between the consumer and the manufacturer. We do not warrant items directly and we do not accept returns for items with a warranted defect. Products without a warranty are sold as is and can not be returned to Melonbike for a replacement.
